Our Process

We believe in promoting collaboration across the industry; the power of the collective drives efficiency, accuracy and innovation. We like to be involved early on in a project, but enjoy working together with designers and clients at all stages of a project, from conception to construction.

Consultation

1. Consultation

Having skills and experience in both design and build, we are able to provide early stage consultation during a project's infancy, advising on such things as construction approach, timber selection and jointing, budget and programme.

2. Design

2. Design

We are carpenters and Architects. Our involvement is tailored to the requirements of the project. We work with 3D software packages, combined with 1:1 workshop prototyping. We typically produce in-house fabrication drawings based on in-house surveys. We work closely with design teams and clients to resolve details and specifications before commencing construction.

3. Timber

Timber is at the core of our work. We enjoy the challenges it presents and the results it can achieve. We also believe in it as a modern day building material, both in it’s natural and engineered form. We look to match the specification to the budget, but always with a sensitivity towards what the wood will be used for, where it’ll be located and how it will respond.

4. Craft

We take pride in what we do and the work that we produce. Craft is at the heart of our day-to-day activities, working with a natural and live material that is often required to meet ever more stringent modern day and tolerances.

We use traditional and modern carpentry techniques. This often brings together mobile power tools, fixed tooling and hand tools. Our projects are frequently varied, and so we have developed a range of methods for tackling all sorts of approaches.

5. Fabrication

We build in a range of environments, yet we strongly believe in the benefits of workshop fabrication. Construction in a controlled environment enhances build quality, programme assurance and safety, whilst limiting site time and waste. We look to blend carpentry skills from all scales, transferring skills from furniture making across to structural framing, and use a workshop approach and tooling to achieve this.

6. Installation

We are experienced site installers. We typically undertake a full site survey before commencing fabrication, and prefer to install our products ourselves. We work with mobile cranes and hand lifts. We are not limited to pre-fabricated carpentry, and undertake a full range of site carpentry, from structural framing and cladding, to second fix interiors and kitchen installations.
