Design Museum Pavilion

Date: 2016

Architect/Designer: Clementine Blakemore

Structural Engineer: Peter Laidler, Harriet Sanderson & Max Clayton

Location: London

Timber Workshop worked with Clementine Blakemore Architecture to construct the timber frame of a temporary pavilion in the grounds of the new Design Museum. Commissioned as part of the annual Designers in Residence program, the project was assembled with a group of students from the Royal College of Art as part of a week-long ‘Co-Construction’ workshop.

The design of the pavilion reflects that of the adjacent Design Museum in it’s form. Beech glue laminated timber from Pollmeier BauBuche was used as the primary structural frame, paired together with concealed steel flitch plates forming the main connection details.
