Horatio’s Garden Wales opened in 2022 at The Welsh Spinal Cord Injury and Neuro Rehabilitation Centre in University Hospital Llandough, Cardiff. The spinal centre is one of 11 designated spinal centres in the UK, with patients admitted from across south and mid-Wales.

The award-winning designer Sarah Price, designed the garden as a therapeutic, accessible garden for long term patients. Working with 6a architects, a garden pavilion and room were included, sensitively providing people with a place to feel the benefits of nature.

Timber Workshop were engaged to fabricate and install the primary structural timber frame. The majority of this was in high quality Canadian Douglas Fir. Elements of the structure were glue laminated, and the structure’s unusual geometry required some complicated carpentry using slotted steel flitch plates.
